Is it possible to receive a regionally acc. Lib Arts degree by exam?

Hi,

I need to know if it is possible to receive a bachelors degree in the Humanities / Liberal Arts by Examination. I want to get into a Masters program for teaching and I really need to get this bachelors over with--I waited way too long to get one (I'm 24 now) in order to get a decent paying job that I like.

I want to transfer to a private university Jesuit university here, that is specifically for people in my situation and they do work with CLEP and Dantes. I need help navigating this!

thanks.|||24 is not "way too long."

I got my BA at 40. And there are plenty older than me.

Any decent Masters program is going to scoff at a BA totally done through exams. No one takes a diploma mill seriously.

Google Empire State College and Excelsior College. They've been in the alt-degree biz long before there was an Internet, and both are bonafide state programs. You can use a mix of exams and life experience credit, but you will have to do some new work (that's true of any decent school), even if by mentorships/distance learning.

ADDED:

Both schools work on a more flexible schedule than semesters/trimesters. Online courses may start in any given month, while indy study courses will have set, negotiated deadlines.

ESC requires at least 32 new credits, and will accept up to 96 in prior work, credit for life, and/or exams, for 128 credits. That doesn't mean , of course, that you'll get credit for all 96. There are minimums for general ed, specialized and upper level credits, just as you would find at many schools.

So you can probably expect to take a bare-bones minimum of 6-9 months (if you luck into needing only 32), but it's hard to say without knowing how much credit you can get.

good luck!|||Do you mean just take a test and receive the BA? No. You'll have to take all the required classes and get a passing grade in order to receive the degree.
