Why is Pan card needed for bank transactions?

Today I went to State Bank of India to make a bank account.but they said Pan card is required for transactions of Rs 200000 %26amp; above.which transaction are they talking about,is it Third party transfers, like money transfer from western Union money transfer.











I need a bank account that will provide Master debit or credit card ,internet banking options,third party transfer options.which bank should i make my acc with?


P.S : i stay in India|||hi according to income tax acts and RBI rulings


PAN card is compulsary for making any transactions more than Rs 50,000.


transactions include depositing, withdrawing from bank but not through ATM's. money transfers, third party payments.


Pan card is almost necessary for any type of monetary transactions including mutual funds, insurance, filing income tax returns. etc


u can go to icici bank or any nationalized bank for opening account they will provide u with debit card, cheque book etc
