My bank ACCIDENTALLY gave me 拢8000 what do i do?

I checked my acc today %26amp; my bank has accidentally added an extra account in my name with a balance of over 拢8000.

What actions can I take or should I take about this?

Take the money? (transfer it to another acc)

Get compensation? (just randomly suggesting things) lol

Do nothing and wait for them to correct the problem?

What should I do?|||If you are telling the truth (and I doubt it) tell the bank about their mistake. If you try to keep the money knowing that it's not yours you are acting illegally.|||Do two things NOW, and both in writing

1) inform the Bank

2) Inform the police

Then do not touch the money

If you keep the money you are guilty of theft, but if you informthe bank and the police then it is up tot he bank to take the money back.

A few years ago a young family had their account credited by a lot of money, the bank insisted it was theirs, they argued for a few months and then started to spend the cash. Had holidays, bought a car etc.

After almost a year a man turned up, he had sent the cheque to the bank to open an account and had the same name as the father in the family.

Because they had not informed the police and the bank denied they had ever been informed, they were arested and spent months on bail before having to go to court.|||When they figure it out (which they will) they will take it out. They will get their money regardless if you spend it or not, they will make your account negative and make it nearly impossible to open a new account. And after they do that they will get debt collectors involved, if they don't succeed they the police will come in. Either don't spend the money or call the bank and tell them they made a mistake so they can take the money out.|||ok, this is more common than you think. if you notify the bank in person they should give you a good will gesture of around 拢50-拢100. they will prosecute if you withdraw or transfer the funds away. these mistakes are normally corrected within 24 hours.|||The answer is this:

The pound sign tells me you are in the UK.

In the UK there is a law called "Theft by finding"

(Google it for yourself)

You have to tell the police, then the bank, and in that order, immediately.

I'm totally not kididng|||They WILL find out. And if you try to spend the money, they'll make you cough it back out! You might as well call them up and tell them of the mistake now. Don't take this as some kind of lottery winnings or whatever, cos it's not.|||Nothing and wait for them to correct it.You could call them and tell them about the mistake. If you take the cash they will charge your account for the money and can ruin your credit or possibly prosecute you.|||Contact the bank and bring the balance to their attention. You can and WILL get into trouble for using that money. It's not worth 8K to muck up your credit and get into trouble with the Fed.|||They will eventually discover what they did and where the money is. Then you might be in trouble.

The smart thing to do is simply go to the bank and tell them what they did.

It's the honest thing to do too.|||Keep it ;)

Nah..im just kidding.

Return it..they might feel happy that you returned it instead of keeping it. They might even smile and tell you to keep it XD

Its up to you..you dont wanna go to jail now do you? ;)|||Notify the bank of the error. Do NOT just keep the money. If you do, the bank will demand it back when they realize the error - and they will!|||I would do nothing for now . If after a whole financial year has elapsed they still haven't noticed I would be very tempted to take it .|||I would tell the bank they have deposited that amount in your account by error. There is zero chance they will not notice this error and if you spend it you will be committing a serious fraud crime|||An analogy:

If the postman puts YOUR letter (addressed to you) through MY letterbox by mistake, does that then make it my letter?

Answer: Give it back|||They can and will chase you for it. Just return it.|||Tell the bank to check your account again|||Send it to me.|||What does your conscience tell you?|||Transfer it to an account in a different bank or cash in the money now and close the account.

Take it.

They may realise the mistake at some point and ask you to pay it back, but you are not obliged to do so, just say you have spent it.

Enjoy,

x|||take the money. go untraceable if they can find u when they reverse the charges,, your account will have a negative bal of -8000

\close the account taking the money
